People generally don’t need much convincing to visit the Hawaiian Islands. Blue skies, clear waters and sunshine everyday, Hawaii is most peoples idea of paradise. Oahu is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands and is the most populated. Here are five places to visit.
Honolulu in Central Oahu is the epitome of luxury. From designer shops, fabulous restaurants and great entertainment, the city is a must for tourists. Visit the Iolani Palace, the only royal palace in the US or the Kawaiahao Church, which was built in coral blocks.
Waikiki Beach is a little slice of heaven. Famous for its ideal year-round climate and stunning scenery, Waikiki is one of the most well-know beaches in the world. The waters are perfect for surfing and canoe rides and the beach is bliss for sunbathers.
Diamond Head is a 760-ft extinct volcanic peak and is Waikiki’s most famous landmark.
At the top there are stunning views of East Shore and Honolulu.
The spot that receives the most visitors in Oahu is Pearl Harbour. In 1941 over 2000 American soldiers where killed during the Japanese attack. The site features a memorial to those who died. It features a theatre presentation that shows footage of the attack. Pearl Harbour is also home to the USS Missouri where the surrender was signed.
Hanauma Bay is one of the most beautiful spots on the island. Perfect for snorkelling the waters are clear blue and contain some of the most unusual species of fish in the world. The bay is surrounded by hills which offer spectacular views of the surrounding beaches.
